Complaints should be received respectfully, assessed fairly, recorded securely, and routed outside conflicts of interest.
Independent routing
A complaint about a senior leader must not depend only on that leader or people directly controlled by them. Verified external oversight or an independent panel must be reachable.
Limits of an internal process
Church processes do not replace criminal reporting, emergency services, professional safeguarding duties, legal rights, or appropriate independent advice.
